iOS Integration

With the iOS app PDF Cnt Search you can scan documents on the go and sync them with the Mac app.

Connecting

  1. Open the iOS app and select "Connect to macOS"
  2. The app displays a 9-digit pairing code
  3. Enter this code on your Mac under Settings → Sharing for the corresponding folder
  4. Once paired successfully, the device is shown as connected

Synchronization

Scanned documents are automatically transferred to the Mac via real-time synchronization. If there are connection issues, the system falls back to periodic polling. New scans are indicated by a badge on the Dock icon and in the sidebar.

Device Management

Under Settings → Sharing, you can see all connected devices and revoke access for individual devices.

AI File Naming

The iOS app can automatically generate file names using AI. In the scan options, you can configure naming rules with placeholders such as [date], [invoice_number] or [company]. The app analyzes the recognized text of the first page and generates a suitable file name.

In-App PDF Editor

Starting with version 1.19, the iOS app includes a built-in PDF editor based on Apple PencilKit and PDFKit. From a scan's detail view, tap Edit to annotate the PDF directly in the app with pen, highlighter, eraser, and text stamps — the previous roundtrip through the Files app is no longer required.

  • Color palette including black and a custom color picker
  • Apple Pencil support with pressure sensitivity
  • Annotations are flattened (stamped) into the PDF on save
  • Edited files are automatically synced back to the paired Mac

You can disable the editor in iOS settings via the Use in-app PDF editor toggle — editing then falls back to the Files app as before.

Export to Cloud Storage

When saving a scan, use "Export to Files" to save the document to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or other storage locations configured in the Files app.
