Menu Bar
FreezeText runs as a menu bar app. The icon (text recognition symbol) is located in the macOS menu bar at the top right. The following actions are available from the menu:
- Capture Text — starts a new capture
- History — opens the history sidebar
- Preferences... — opens settings
- Quick Start — shows the onboarding wizard again
- Info & Legal — legal notice, terms of use, privacy policy
Capture Overlay
After pressing the hotkey, a fullscreen overlay is displayed on all screens. The background is slightly dimmed. The selection rectangle shows:
- White border with shadow effect
- Rounded corners
- Real-time size indicator (width × height) below the rectangle
- The selected area is shown clearly, the rest remains dimmed
Text Editor
After capture, a translucent text editor window is shown where you can review and edit the recognized text.
- Translucent window design with monospace font
- Text is selected by default for easy copying
- Auto-save — text is automatically saved when the window is closed or loses focus
- Recapture — discards the text and starts a new capture
- Save (⌘S) — copies the text to the clipboard
- ESC — closes the editor without saving
- Freely movable and resizable
