Description

Distill analyzes your files with AI and renames them automatically — no more cryptic file names like IMG_4521.jpg or Scan_003.pdf. Pay-per-use, no subscription: Get 100 AI-generated filenames free on first launch. After that, 100 additional credits cost €1.99, 400 credits €4.99, or 1,000 credits €8.99 — no monthly fee, no sign-up. Power users with their own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google use Distill without spending credits. Four AI providers to choose from: Claude (Anthropic), OpenAI GPT-4o, Google Gemini, and Ollama (local). The AI reads PDFs, images (OCR), Office documents, emails, HTML, RTF, and media files. It extracts date, category, description, sender, and amounts — the configurable NameBuilder creates consistent file names according to your rules. The workflow is simple: drag and drop files, review the color-coded diff preview, confirm with one click. For recurring tasks, Distill watches folders in the background and renames new files automatically. With Ollama, all data stays on your Mac — no cloud, no uploads. With cloud providers, only the extracted text is transmitted, never the file itself. The searchable history with undo function gives you full control. REST API with Swagger UI and MCP server for integration with Claude and other AI assistants. Free on the Mac App Store and as direct download.

Florian M.★★★★★

Finally organized! - Had hundreds of unsorted scans and invoices. Distill processed them in minutes and named them cleanly. The folder watching feature is brilliant, new files get renamed automatically.

Sandra K.★★★★

Very practical, saves a lot of time - The AI reliably detects date and sender from PDFs. Great that you can choose between different AI providers. With Ollama everything stays local on the Mac.

Thomas R.★★★★★

REST API is great - As a developer I love the complete API with Swagger docs. Can integrate Distill directly into my workflow. MCP server works flawlessly with Claude.
